There is something both earthily Nordic and expressively avant-garde about Normann Copenhagen’s collection of small tables that go by the name Pine. The tables are made from solid pine in a characterful and sculptural design.
The choice of pinewood sets the tone for the design of the Pine tables. The tables gain a pleasing organic quality from the wood’s distinctive grain, and the overlooked wood species is given new life in the playful form. Designer Simon Legald explains:
“In furniture design Pine has been a forgotten wood variety for quite some time. That is a pity, because pine is certainly not without its qualities. For me, the wood’s fiery growth rings and characteristic aroma represent Nordic soul and warmth. Not least, it makes a lot of sense to use a material that can be found locally in large quantities.”
With its voluminous octangular foot, Pine can lend prominence and vigour to any room. Its weighty body is gently opposed by the tabletop’s narrow, rounded edge frame, adding a visual lightness to the solid wooden design. The wood is presented in its natural form, or with a coloured wood stain, which allows the grain to show through.

Steady is a modern take on the classic nesting tables, made from powder-coated steel and aluminum. For the design of Steady, designer Hans Hornemann has taken inspiration from the Romanesque architecture. The view in through the arches of a Romanesque arcade is interpreted in the tables’ arched legs, and in the repetition of contours as the two tables meet.
The table's lines shift from sharp to soft in a formal twist that gives the minimal design a dynamic appearance. The recurring arches are counteracted by narrow profiles in a vigorous construction that stands out as a central part of Steady’s visual expression. A wide steel frame and over-sized cylinders fix the table's elements, making it shapely, strong and steady.

Using the most elementary steel stock parts as their starting point, MSDS Studio has created an architectural little side table. Their design ‘Stock’ presents metal in a raw and deconstructed way, while retaining a delicate, rigid quality.
The table’s unconventional leg arrangement emphasises the material’s strength and produces an interesting composition of elements. The aesthetic negative spaces – the airy open area under the table top and the triangle between the angled legs – come from disregarding the traditional arrangement of table legs, creating a new form of symmetry.
Stock appears as a small, strict piece of sculpture, which also serves as a practical, stable side table.

Case is a collection of coffee tables in aluminum and oak that interprets the classic nesting tables. The Case tables have a youthful and functional form, which represents the refined industrial design approach that is designer Hans Hornemann's signature.Case is available in two complimentary sizes, where the smaller table can be put under the larger one and pulled out as needed. Hans Hornemann got the idea for the design from the simple flight cases that are used to transport sound equipment for concerts and have very strong aluminum frames. The small Case tables have lighter shades of the larger table's colors, which serve to create an elegant visual connection between the tables. With their delicate symphonies of color, the Case coffee tables are an easy way to bring a little color into your decor.

Composed of just three different elements, the Jam bookcase is a cleverly and elegantly executed design. The defining element is a wedge, which allows the bookcase to be assembled without the use of screws or tools. The shelves are quite simply jammed onto the wedges and then gravity and friction take care of the rest.
"We always find ourselves captivated by the simple things that surround us – simple things that fascinate us because they only need a minimum number of elements in order to become very functional final objects. The humble wedge is a great example of such a thing. Due solely to inclining surfaces set against each other in friction, a wedge is able to support something as weighty and considerable as a door. It was this observation that led us to design a flatpack bookcase that can be assembled without the need for any tools or screws." – Rudolph Schelling Webermann
The Jam bookcase is available in various sizes and can be placed against a wall or used as a room divider. The shelves' softly rounded corners give the unit an inviting and friendly visual expression. With its versatile design, the bookcase works just as well in small apartments as it does in large offices, where its purity and materiality craft a calming and pleasant presence.

There is something virtually graphic about the way the slender steel frame grows out below the Studio chair’s seat and back, framing the molded shell in an airy design. The flowing lines stand out in an eye-catching silhouette, like a line drawing or a pictogram, just as the empty spaces between the frame and the back act to define the shape. The simple construction in veneer and steel tubing directs one’s thoughts towards older French factory chairs, giving Studio its industrial notes. A design that attracts attention, but glows with pure simplicity.
The multi-purpose Studio chair series is designed for use in both domestic and public spaces. The series includes chairs, armchairs and barstools in two heights. All models are stackable, making the range suitable for restaurants and educational facilities with the need for transformable areas. The steel frame makes it easy to grab hold of the chairs and move them around as required.

Oona is a play between shapes and contrasts. Clean lines and soft curves meet each other and go to create three unique shapes that are neither round nor square. A simple, immersed line of a darker shade breaks up the plain color of the surface. The Oona rug is available in three sizes and colors: rose, mint and grey. The rugs can be used for many purposes. For example, in the dining room, under the coffee table, next to the bed or combined for use in a hallway or large hall.

Ryan Schneider’s contribution to the Normann x Brask Art Collection is based on his piece ’Pipes Canyon Peepers’ from 2016, inspired by the dark nights and picturesque surroundings of his Joshua Tree home. This dreamy landscape, where colorful trees and owls light up in the starry night sky, unfolds in a vibrant bedspread made of cotton quilt.
“I’ve always wanted to do a blanket, and I really like the idea that you can wrap yourself up in this particular piece. Pipes Canyon at nighttime is something special. The temperature drops from hot to cold, and the scenery is so beautiful, quiet and peaceful. It makes you sleep well. To have this nocturnal image as a bedspread just feels right. Everything is so well connected.” – Ryan Schneider
There is something calming and fitting about snuggling up in Schneider’s serene Californian night image. The motif is strangely hypnotic and supernaturally peaceful. A half-moon shines from behind bare treetops. Owls, sluggish and curious at the same time, peek out from their perches on twisted branches, while a dark backdrop – not quite black, but a deep, infinite dark blue – makes trees and owls pop out with fluorescent colors in a magical and mythical scene.

Tony Matelli’s three throw blankets for the Normann x Brask Art Collection express the feelings of an artist in distress. The woolen throws are woven enlargements of personal fax messages sent to some of his art dealers in 2003 and made into a series of prints for a solo show in Stockholm in 2008. Although written in a polite manner, the messages convey a strong sense of frustration and desperation: of unreserved artist panic.
In a mix of machine writing, drawings and handwritten notes, the faxes revolve around artistic doldrums, money troubles, and the distorted reality of worrying about unpaid bills whilst being confronted with the excessive wealth of art buyers who shop with extravagant ease. All satirically served up on a backdrop of cheery pastels.
Matelli perpetuates this humorous approach by turning these frantic messages of the struggling artist into a comforting and cozy object. Every little detail, from the ink residues of the printer to the redactions and acts of censorship, are reproduced in the felting, allowing you to comfortably wrap yourself up in a marriage of soft wool and artist’s despair.
Drawing its inspiration from a Copenhagen trademark, the bicycle, The Lug Table is designed with a particular attention to detail. The name of the table, Lug, comes from the small but vital part of the bicycle that has been used since the 1920s to hold the frame together. This idea was the starting point, and just like in a bicycle, the craftmanship of the Lug Table lies in the detail.
Designer Simon Legald used brass for the screws and the lug itself. These brass details contrast the monochromatic look of the simple steel frame and pays tribute to the craftmanship of the 1920s vintage bicycles. The mechanical parts and the curve of the legs comes together in this table, making it a balance between masculine construction and feminine elegance.
The tabletop plate is made from hardened, colored glass which gives the table an exclusive look while still being resilient. The Lug Table comes in warm gray and black and is made in two sizes. The small table is great as a bedside table, while the large one makes for an ideal coffee table. The Lug Table works well on its own or together as a set in living rooms or lounge areas.

It has three molded legs and a round seat. It can be used as extra seating and is easily stackable. We all know it well: the archetypal three-legged stool. Nearly everyone has had a variation of it in their home at some point in their lives but often its design is taken for granted. Precisely the rethinking of something as simple as a stool was the starting point for Normann Copenhagen's Tap Stool.Slightly hard foam has been used for the seat, which, like rubber, has a flexible, sealed surface. This makes Tap dirt-resistant, durable and easy to clean. The moulded seat ensures good seating comfort and provides the stool with the same welcoming warmth known from upholstered furniture. The three legs have an integrated transition to the seat. This gives Tap the appearance of a unified whole, even when seen from the side. Use it as an extra seat or to rest your feet on when tired.
The Grow coffee table is made of solid oak in a finely balanced design with references to classic Danish shaker style. The table is named for the smooth transition between the tabletop and legs, which gives the impression that the legs are growing out of the tabletop.
With its simple silhouette and shapely details, Grow alludes to the luxury of simplicity. The tabletop's chamfered edges and the oval legs lend the table a visual lightness, allowing the gorgeous oak wood to take center stage. Grow is a versatile design with timeless class.

Solid is a minimalist coffee table made from natural, solid materials that unite Scandinavian craftsmanship with the basic principles of Japanese architecture. The result is a timeless and sturdy coffee table with a simple design stripped of unnecessary details. Solid table consists of a base of Nordic ash and a marble tabletop, and is simple and intuitive to assemble without the use of screws or glue. The parts lock together under the weight of the tabletop, forming a sturdy coffee table with a harmonious and luxurious look. Its simple and Nordic expression makes Solid look elegant with most sofas.
The Turn table is a small yet functional table in wood and steel. The name Turn refers to the rotational movement used to adjust the height of its round tabletop, gently raising it up from its bell-shaped steel base.
With a minimum height of 41.5 cm and a maximum height of 66.5 cm, this small table can be easily adjusted to suits its existing surroundings. Beyond acting as a visual ballast to the light tabletop, the distinctive base also serves as a stabilizing center of gravity and reflects the way in which Turn has been clearly designed around its function.
Turn is well-suited for use as a coffee or side table and can be placed on its own or in a group of small tables in a living room or lounge area. The ash veneer tabletop is lacquered in the same color as the steel base. The table comes in three monochrome tones of black, dark gray and a lighter, warm gray, allowing Turn to blend in elegantly with different interior designs.
The Ding table is inspired by ancient three-dimensional wooden brain teaser puzzles. The table consists quite simply of three legs made from oak have that are assembled without screws and tools of any kind. When put together they constitute a sculptural knot that works as the base for an exclusive glass tabletop. The legs are rounded off with chamfered edges, making the table stand sturdily on the floor and the round sheet of glass sit solidly on the base. The Ding table is available with either a clear or smoked glass tabletop, and with a choice of three different types of legs, there is ample opportunity to find exactly the style that suits your furnishings and taste. For example, you can combine a clear glass tabletop with legs in natural for a clean and Nordic expression, or turn up the intensity with a smoked table top in bold coral-colored or striking black legs.
